Planter pots use drainage saucers to collect the excess water that drains from pots after watering. Also can be used to soak plants to promote germination. The shallow containers prevent the water from flowing through the soil in the container and out the bottom drainage holes onto the planting shelf, table, flooring, carpet, decking, furniture, or patio slab. Conducive to hydrophilous plants to keep the soil moist. Place a saucer underneath the flowerpot and fill the saucer with fresh water when its time to water. Let it soak for several hours. Empty the saucer and let the remaining water drip out. Standing water will promote excess soil moisture and cause plant roots to get bad. They need to be drained after each watering.
